Social Security Number

As an F-1 student, you are eligible for a social security number once you have an offer letter for paid employment. Be sure to memorize your social security number and keep your social security card with your other important documents such as your I-20 and passport. Do not carry your social security card in your wallet.

You will receive your social security card in the mail within approximately two weeks.
