Program Extension Request

Student Eligibility:
  • Students who will not complete their program by the end date on the I-20 must apply for an extension prior to the program end date.
  • Students must have continually maintained F-1 status.
  • The need for an extension must be due to compelling academic or medical reasons.
Things to Know:
How to Apply for a Program Extension:
  • Step 1: If your program extension is based on academic reasons, meet with your academic advisor to confirm your new end date.
  • Step 2: Click the "Apply for Program Extension" button below. Complete all required questionnaires.
  • Step 3: ISS will review the request and issue the updated I-20 to eligible students.   
Note: If you have already started a request for the current term, please go to your User Home Page to continue working on your request. Do not start a new request.
